ECSA-HC and USAID/EA have been in partnership since 2006. In 2009 ECSA and USAID East Africa entered into a new Strategic Objective Grant agreement under the theme “A Healthier Population in East and Central Africa achieved through African Leadership”. The total budget of activities to be supported under this agreement is USD994, 500.
With USAID support ECSA-HC continues to advocate for regional policies in maternal and child health, family planning and reproductive health and nutrition and provides training and technical assistance, and documents and disseminates information and results of ECSA-HC activities to countries in the region. Under the new agreement, ECSA-HC will implement activities focusing on; Birth preparedness and Maternity Services, health Governance and Finance; Nutrition Enabling Environment and capacity and Policy analysis and system strengthening.
