Helping Babies Breathe (HBB) in Rwanda
ECSACON hold a training of trainers’ course
Rwanda is the fifth country in the East, Central and Southern Africa (ECSA) region to have conducted a Training of Trainers (TOT) for Helping Babies Breathe (HBB). The training was held from 6 -8 June 2012.
The other four countries where this series of training has already been held include Zambia, followed by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. Rwanda is therefore the fifth country where such training has been held. Training of Trainers (TOT) on HBB for ECSA region was revitalized back in February 2011 when a Regional TOT for Africa was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. These trainings are aimed at eliminating neonatal mortalities which pose a significant problem in all countries of the region.
The Rwanda training has been conducted by the East, Central and Southern Africa Health Community (ECSA-HC) through the East, Central and Southern Africa College of Nursing (ECSACON) and the Ministry of Health-Rwanda in collaboration with the MCHIP/JHPIEGO-Rwanda, USAID-East Africa, American Academy of Pediatrics, Laerdal Foundation and Regional Center for Quality in Health (RCQHC).
